Friends and supporters,
I want to let you all know that I am not seeking re-election to the school board of Sac City Unified in 2020. I am proud to be part of a team with a dedicated board and an amazing superintendent that continue to make decisions that are truly student-centered. I assure you that I will continue to support the work of this team beyond my time on the Board.
As our youngest child is about to graduate from SCUSD, thus making us empty-nesters, this is a logical time to reassess how I want to focus my energy to make a positive impact. My career in child development and my experience as a district parent led me to this role, but my advocacy for children and families didn’t start on the school board and it definitely won’t end there.
This message may seem premature, as my term does not end until December. I felt it important to let our community know now so we can look to our friends, colleagues and community leaders to identify our potential next school board member from Area 4 who can continue the important work of putting the needs of kids first.
I have appreciated all the support I’ve received over the past three and a half years. These next few months look to be extremely difficult for public education, and I ask you for that same support and understanding as we make the tough decisions necessary to support our students.
